Notes:
- Mario Kart DS has sold a million copies in North America.
- PSP slaughtered the competition in Japan this week, selling more than the DS, Wii, Xbox 360, and PS3 combined.
- Both handhelds sold more than any of the consoles this week worldwide, with the DS leading the way.
- Gran Turismo 5 Prologue for the PS3 hit the top of the charts in Europe/Australia selling 375k. The PS3 was also the best-selling console in that region.

Anyway, with the name Final Fantasy VII infront of it its expected.

People love their FF and I was hoping Opoona would fare better than that.

277,000 is good for a launch week, but let's see how many weeks it stays #1. If it passes Brawl in overall sales, then I'll be surprised, but I doubt it'll retain it's title for long.

Look on the bright side. Wii Play isn't in the top 5.

Go Final Fantasy! I think it's a pretty impressive thing to beat Brawl to the top spot.

Two things stand out to me

PS3 sales jump around sporadically, and with a game like FFVII:CC launching, the console of the game (PSP) often sells units that week as well. Not surprising people waited to buy a PSP until FFVII:CC came out.

For the NSMB on DS, I really don't know. I guess it's just one of those staples of the DS like Mario Kart. You buy a DS and you must get it with it.

Yeah NSMB has been out for 98 weeks now. The popular DS games have exceedingly long legs:
Mario Kart DS (#30) - 124 weeks
Brain Training (#35) - 102 weeks
Nintendogs (#40) - 136 weeks
Animal Crossing: Wild World (#84) - 121 weeks

Speaking of long legs, interesting to note that Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (PS2) is in the top 75 179 weeks after its release (8.4 million copies).

The 360 sales are much more surprising if you ask me.

Like Cloud said, its not just "A PSP game" that knocked Brawl off. Its more FF-VII milking.

This was expected.

Also expected, just like GTAIV will kill Mario Kart in sales at the end of the month.

I also didn't know this was out yet. I won't be surprised to see this game on the top of the charts in Japan for weeks to come and PSP sales will probably increase even more in the next coming weeks. Almost makes me wish I hadn't sold my PSPs.

Yeah, I had two. It's a long story that is about bad timing.

I'll probably pick a PSP up in a couple of months and import.

One good game could never make me purchase a PSP.

Still, Final Fantasy is a hard thing to beat. But it didn't completely outsell Brawl so it's okay.
