Server Migration
In case you missed the big bright yellow box at the top of every page, we are currently migrating to our new data center. The new server is a small step towards a list of upgrades we are planning in order to handle our next total site roll out.
Since the only way to leave the threads viewable while we transition is to leave the board open, everyone is still able to post and make changes to their profiles. Please note, though, that any changes made while this yellow box hovers in the sky will be lost once the migration is complete.
Due to the nature of DNS propagation, different users will be able to see the new server before others (depending on when your host updates), and thus we are not able to give a narrow time frame for this transition. We anticipate some members being able to see it within 4 hours from this post, with all members using the new server within 48 hours. Once the yellow box has disappeared, you are viewing the site on our new server!
Please post any questions you have and we will answer them as quickly as possible (unless we propagate before you, that is!)

RE: Server Migration
So will his make the site less faulty, and make it faster? Because I know the load involved from PHP is pretty tight

But it's not going to look any different is it? Also will all ISPs propagate sooner or later, how are we supposed to know? *worrying*

No, other than the lack of the yellow box, the site should not look different right now.
Yes, all ISPs should update within 48 hours, but most are much sooner.

RE: Server Migration
But seriously, how will we know when we have transferred over to this new server, or will we not

Ohh... pretty good, and yourself? (BTW, you realize there is probably a party going on at the new server, but we can't see it yet )

I guess I didn't make it clear. When that yellow box disappears, you're on the new server. That's because we transferred a copy of everything to the new server, then I put that box up there. Thus, the new server is exactly the way this server was just before I put that box up there. Of course, it may have new posts from members that made it there before you did. If I get there soon, I'll put a green box or something letting people know they've "transitioned".

RE: Server Migration
haha champagne and fireworks everywhere! BTW, if you go here, you could potentially get more members:
http://community.mybboard.net/forumdisplay.php?fid=17
you can showcase WiiLoaded.com!
We showcase WL every time we make a major theme rollout. We're pretty well known as one of the larger, more active, and most modified MyBB forums.

RE: Server Migration
MyBB is so much better than phpBB. phpBB is annoying and ugly. After you post in phpBB, it asks you if you want to view your post or return to the forums. It's really stupid

RE: Server Migration
This server migration is giving me a severe migraine, eh, eh?
Also, are we leaving ScarabNetworks completely or are we just switching to a new server system within SN

RE: Server Migration
We are still with them. This is just a planned upgrade, though it was suppose to take place Sunday night, not Friday night. They kinda jumped the gun and and moved stuff, then realized they were two days early and asked if we wanted to go as is or wait until Sunday and do it over. I figured we'd go ahead and get it over with.
We are not only in a new server, but also at a new datacenter.

RE: Server Migration
No, but we do exchange a lot of emails.
BTW, you can see the new server here:
http://72.29.74.154/~wiiloade/
None of the links will work though, as they all link to wiiloaded.com/blah, which brings you back to the old server.

RE: Server Migration
okay. major apologies. there appears to have been a glitch somewhere in the DNS Zone details, at some point they got reverted.
hopefully it's been corrected now.
