December 21, 2012 is the end of the thirteenth cycle of the Mayan calendar. It does NOT mean the end of the world. What it DOES mean (according to Mayan culture) is that there will be a large global shift of humanity/energy/spirituality.

Of course, what this REALLY means, is that on 12/21/2012, I will be in Tayasal (aka Noh Petén) which is modern day Flores, Guatemala. This was the capital of the Mayan civilization. And there will be a party. A HUGE party. I'm talking party of APOCALYPTIC proportions! And it will be the sh!t. Hells yeah.

there have already been several apocaliptal occurances, but 12122012 will be the biggy.

all it means is that something will happen that will change our world as we know it.
something that effects us all to some degree and changes how we view the world.

Sorry to resurrect again but I've just seen an epic documentary...

The Mayan calander basically predicted 'white gods in beards will come' and on the exact date they predicted, Cortez arrived and killed them. That's just one of the right predictions but they also knew of coming lunar eclipses thousands of years into the future but they predicted that the data yadda yadda will be the when the Earth, The Sun and the black hole in the center of the milky way will be in perfect alignment. They predicted it'll cause a polar shift...not only them but modern day geologists do too. Even if that process took years the earth would still have mass extinction but in a matter of hours? That'll decimate humanity.

The ancient Chinese il ching. Hard to explain but basically 6 rows, roll 3 coins six times. Mainly heads than draw a full line, mainly tails draw a broken line. You ask a question and once your 6 lines are complete consult with a book which has all 64 possibilities and a meaning for each. However last century a mathematician mapped the 64 possibilities into a row and then graphed it. He compared the graph with a time line. The time line predicts the fall of the roman empire etc. however it exactly ends where the Mayans predicted.

There is also an application used to get hints about future financial conditions that believes a series of global catastrophes will begin in 2008 and will climax in 2012. War etc.

Yes, they fired it already, but they haven't collided anything yet, and *that* is where horrible things are supposed to (maybe) happen.

I guessed the Georgia being invaded and that tensions keep climbing to nuclear war and terrorism etc. as the webbot predicted. But meh. I'm more interested in the astrological side than this webbot prediction that everything will screw us over.

this week a bank colapsed and failed. between now and 12122012 all other banking establishments will go bust, hence the end of the world as we know it

Well my theory on that (I do think its a load of crap but its fun to think about) is gonna have to do with the new hadron collider. Background on that if you are unfamiliar with it is that they basically collide two hadron atoms at almost the speed of light, which they are hoping will create little mini singularities, or basically mini black holes. Now these singularities should be very unstable and disappear almost as soon as they appear but skeptics think that there is a chance that it will stabalize and grow bigger, destroying the earth.

Now here is were it ties into the 12/21/2012. Basically what was said is that any side effects from this will not be known for about 4 years from when the atoms collide. And when they start up the machine to collide them it will take a few months to get the atoms up to almost the speed of light so they can smash them. So what date is 4 years and 3 months from now, 12/19/12. And in the news yesterday was an article saying that their transformer that cools the collider to almost absolute zero broke down which should be replaced soon bringing us closer to the 21st.

Again I still think its crap, but I've got too much time on my hands to think of this crap when I'm at work.
