In a recent one-page interview with legendary Metroid co-creator, Yoshio Sakamoto, has opened up saying that this title is going to show audiences and fans a more "human side" of bounty hunter Samus Aran.
The title is actually a three part team effort, Nintendo will be constantly looking over Team Ninja's shoulder as they develop the game whilst D Rocket is working on the game's computer-generated video sequences. According to Sakamoto, it is in these video sequences that we will see a more emotional side to Samus, which is an exciting prospect considering her silence all these years. Sakamoto also says "she's a strong woman, but she also has a fragile side. We want to make a game whose charms can be felt from the story areas and these human touches as well."
He does clarify that he is committed to ensuring this Metroid title sticks with its action orientated roots, he simply wants to add some depth to Samus, saying that "it's capable of having a clear emotional side."
The concept of a action filled Metroid game with a rich story and characters with depth sounds like a concept that can only turn out good. However, with such little information Other M could still go either way. The title is still expected to launch later this year, let us hope this collaboration is as good as it is sounding.
